Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

It’s great that so many DJs are keeping house music alive in clubs around town. But, there’s nothing like hearing two of the Chicago cult creators: Frankie Knuckles and Steve “Silk” Hurley. Dance Music Hall of Fame inductee Knuckles emits all the nostalgia of the Warehouse and Power Plant days with one song, “Your Love.” And, Grammy Award winner Hurley’s skills are legendary as DJ and producer, having worked with house music heavy hitters as well as pop music big names.

House purists should feel free to dance to the new-style house beats that have a little of the Afro-Cuban and hip-hop rhythms that are keeping the dance floors full these days. And don’t forget to bring an extra shirt (if you are not sweating at a house music party, you need to take your … exit the party, please).

Acclaimed house DJs in their own right, Andre Hatchett and Pharris Thomas, also take the turntables.
