Lucky
The magazine about shopping and style
May 2008 (Conde Nast, $2.99)
In May’s issue of Lucky, the editors offer helpful fashion advice such as “a month of outfits” with 30 days of fab spring looks. Amid the product potpourri, the magazine has tips on everything from split ends to self-tanners.
1. Fashion illustrator Ginny Branch shares her budget trick for getting high style: “Little Marc. It’s Marc Jacobs’ children’s line, but size 12 A tops fit me perfectly — and are a fraction of the cost.”
2. Put tarnished jewelry on a dish lined with foil. Sprinkle baking soda, cover with boiling water, and let it all soak for 10 minutes.
3. Accessorize lightweight cardigans with short, delicate necklaces. One that sits on the collarbone is perfect. If it’s too long, it’ll snag on the buttons.
4. Using a self-tanner? Don’t shower for a day: It takes three to four hours for self-tanner to show up, and 9 to 12 for maximum development.
5. The only true way to get rid of split ends is a trim.
