Kerry Wood entered to the strains of AC/DC’s “T.N.T.” on the Wrigley Field sound system Thursday, though after registering his first career save the new Cubs closer said it wasn’t his idea.
“Not my choice,” he said, adding he had “no idea” who chose the song.
The Cubs marketing department apparently came up with the selection, believing Wood wanted to enter with theme music, as many closers do.
After Tribune readers sent more than 400 suggestions for Wood’s entrance song last week, Wood said he didn’t need to enter to music at Wrigley, where tradition usually trumps fads.
“I’ve never heard music played here,” he said.
Asked about the choice of song, Wood shrugged.
“I’m indifferent, really,” he said. “I’m sure it will be changed at some point.”
Wood said he would prefer to hear Wrigley organist Gary Pressy “tickling the ivory” rather than music coming over the loudspeakers.
Fukudome watch
Kosuke Fukudome reached base in eight of his 12 at-bats in the first series of his major-league career, going 4-for-8 with four walks.
“He’s very patient, he works the count really, really well,” manager Lou Piniella said. “He’s just a professional hitter. He probably takes more pitches than anybody else on the team. He’s in a three-ball count a heck of a lot.”

Would Piniella consider using Fukudome in the No. 2 hole, as he did in spring training?
“Oh, God, you people have all the lineups,” an exasperated Piniella said. “You know what? I’m going to start calling you all at night when I make my lineups out, and then if you don’t like it you can blame yourselves.”
Extra innings
Scott Eyre is at extended spring training in Arizona but hasn’t begun throwing yet and probably won’t be back for at least another couple of weeks. …
Class A Peoria pitcher Robert Hernandez was suspended 50 games Thursday for violating baseball’s minor-league drug policy. Hernandez, 19, was 8-9 with a 4.34 ERA in 20 starts last year at Peoria.
