Shares of Adobe Systems Inc. climbed to $34.75. The shares rose the most since September 2006 a day after the biggest maker of design software reported first-quarter earnings that beat estimates by 3 cents a share.

Shares of Clear Channel Communications Inc. sank to $32.60. The stock dropped the most since August 2002 after CNBC reported that the company’s buyout by two private-equity firms isn’t likely to close this week, citing people close to the buyout group. A spokeswoman said Clear Channel had no comment.

Monsanto Co. stock slid to $98.87. The shares fell the most since March 2003 after the world’s biggest seed producer and French farmers lost a bid to have France’s highest court overturn a ban on genetically modified corn.
