FAIRFIELD, Iowa—It was one of those unpredictable moments that happens on the campaign trail. Barack Obama spotted the toddler at the end of the table but didn’t notice the message on the bib.

As Obama worked his way down a long table shaking hands at the local pizzeria tonight, the boy’s mother apologized for her sticky hands, prompting the candidate to launch into recollections of his own children’s early years.

“That’s OK. Good to see ya. I remember when my kids were this age. I was sticky all the time too,” he cheerfully replies.

“Did you wear a bib like this?” the woman wonders.

“Well, I did not personally wear the bib,” Obama rather earnestly begins his answer, not yet taking time to look at the boy’s chest.

As laughter begins around the table, one of the diners shouts out: “Read the bib.”

So Obama looks down. The bib reads: “Nice (breasts), can I try one?”

“Oh, oh, my goodness, my goodness!” the senator stutters as photographers trailing him snap pictures and TV cameras roll..

“I hope we didn’t–did we get a picture of this?” he continues.

Motioning with his hand to block the bib from the photographer, he adds, “We’re going to have to censor this.”

By now, the entire table has erupted with laughter. “You can just blur it out,” shouts out one diner.

Nice pictures, senator. Can we have one?
