Marshall (6-0) advances to Thursday’s 3:45 p.m. quarterfinal against upstart Morton (9-1), which stunned Evanston 40-38 on a pair of Oscar Macias free throws with 1.5 seconds left.
Darius Smith added 13 points and Eriq Harris 12 for Marshall, which led 63-35 after three quarters.
Melvin Rowe (16 points) led a late surge for the Proviso West (1-7) that saw the Panthers score 18 unanswered points to close within 65-55 with 23 seconds to go.
