Ayoub finished with a game-high 24 points — all in the first three quarters — six rebounds and four steals. Maggie Mocchi scored 10 with seven rebounds and four steals and twin sister Allison had six points, four rebounds and three steals. Sophomore Heather Nisbet added nine points.

“We were just excited to the start the tournament, it’s one of the only things we haven’t won,” Ayoub said. “We really want to win.”
Next up for unbeaten Buffalo Grove (14-0), which has never won this tournament, even during its 2000 state championship season, is Mother McAuley at 3:30 p.m. Thursday. McAuley beat Evanston 56-55 Wednesday.
Regina, which is 7-9 after the loss, already has surpassed last season’s win total when the Panthers were 3-26. Kelcey Traynoff led Regina with 17 points.
