With a massive office space on Michigan Avenue in Chicago, plus more rented space in the Loop for a volunteer office, it is not surprising that Sen. Barack Obama spent $90,000 during the third quarter on rent in Illinois, his top state for such expenses.
The other four states that rank among his top five for office space spending are all early voting states: Iowa, Nevada, New Hampshire and South Carolina.
Rental spending for Democratic front-runner Sen. Hillary Clinton is less obvious. Her top five states are North Carolina (that’s where the landlord for the Virginia building used as a campaign headquarters is based), followed by New Hampshire, California, Iowa and New York.
