“THE INSIDER” ***
10 p.m., STARZ
Viewers get a behind-the-scenes look at the decision-making process of the TV news media. This first-class muckraking melodrama covers the making of the infamous “60 Minutes” chronicle of Jeffrey Wigand’s whistle blowing on the tobacco industry. Al Pacino as the “60 Minutes” segment director and Russell Crowe as Wigand deliver in spades, but Christopher Plummer doesn’t quite convey the gritty bulldog persona of Mike Wallace.
