Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

“Once the door is closed, you cannot enter or exit the space until the performance is ended,” intoned an announcer at the Ghost concert that will be celebrated at this DVD and CD extravaganza. And yes, Ghost did lock the venue’s big, iron door once the audience was sited. “Fire hazard? But it’s art!” They won’t be locking any doors over at Rodan, site of the screening party for this CD/DVD. But the disc this event is celebrating — “Overture: Live in Nippon Yusen Soko 2006” (Drag City) — is such a meditative experience, you wonder how anything special will be able to happen without locking everybody inside a mossy old Japanese factory, as Ghost did for this 2006 show. The music is improvised and beautiful as can be, sort of Jethro Tull meets King Crimson, only really good. The DVD screening begins at 10 p.m., followed by Ghost music the rest of the night, until 2 a.m. You can leave any time you like — not that you’ll want to if Ghost’s spell hits you right.
