People: Some of you might remember Hollywood stylist Rachel Zoe, who last year gained headlines — and a mention in this column — when her former client Nicole Richie blistered her in a blind-item attack. Richie wrote on her blog that: 1. Zoe had an eating disorder; and 2. she encouraged her clients — who included Keira Knightley, Lindsay Lohan and Demi Moore — to emaciate themselves so as to look their Oscar best on the red carpet. (And we thought this stuff only happened on “Gossip Girl.”) The subsequent rumors even buzzed that Zoe pushed meth or Mexican diet pills on her clients.
It was perfect! Suddenly, Zoe had everything one needs to land a book contract: Notoriety? Check. Celebrity names to drop? Check. Her just-published fashion-advice tome is titled “Style A to Zoe.”
And the “A” does NOT stand for acquire anorexia, Zoe tells People (Page 121). “It’s a very serious thing when stars get too thin,” she says, writing off her own super-skinny physique to her “extremely high-stress life.” Choosing between Givenchy and Gucci? That’s pressure!
Us Weekly: This just in from our Hollywood-based Self-Loathing Bureau. Heidi Montag — the blond Californian who co-stars on the hit show “The Hills” — had major plastic surgery this year and tells all in the cover story (Page 58). A pretty teen idol, Montag secretly hated her looks. Her chest? “I was less than an A cup.” Her nose? Even worse: “It took up too much of my face …”
She brought Beverly Hills plastic surgeon Frank Ryan about “400 photos” of models with noses and breasts she liked. The resulting surgery required several weeks’ recovery, but now, she says, “I’m happy and I’m good.”
Maybe not as good as Halle Berry and Angelina Jolie. Ryan says his clients want their noses more than anyone’s.
In Touch: As everyone watches Brad Pitt and Jolie for signs of strife, In Touch’s covers have turned into a sort of weekly Brange-ometer. The weather is currently stormy (“Their Fight Becomes Public,” cover). On Sept. 18, the couple walked into Guastavino’s restaurant in Manhattan, says an onlooker, where Brad had arranged for a private, candlelit table in the back. But when Angelina saw it, “she just rolled her eyes, like she thought it was really cheesy.”
National Enquirer: The cover cries “Split! Julia Roberts’ husband walks out.” It might have been a good scoop, except that Danny Moder just went on a weeklong surfing vacation in Bali. And then came home. Still … you read it in the Enquirer first!
