If it seems that Sen. Barack Obama is only putting in part of a day’s work on the campaign trail today, there’s a reason. He’s got a hot date tonight.
After spending the morning and early afternoon in Iowa, Obama is scheduled to jet back to Chicago for an evening with his wife, Michelle Obama.
Besides celebrating the five-year anniversary of his speech opposing the invasion of Iraq, Obama is also celebrating another, more romantic anniversary this week: his 15th wedding anniversary.
No word on how the happy — and busy — couple plan to spend the evening. But it is a safe bet they won’t be watching the Cubs in Game 1 of the division playoffs. Obama has repeatedly made it clear that he prefers the South Side White Sox.
The candidate will fly back to Iowa Thursday morning to resume his campaign duties.
