The RNC invites you to play along with debating Democrats.
By Jim Tankersley
You don’t have to be a political junkie to endure another live televised primary debate tonight. You could be a college student, or a bored channel surfer, or anyone with a fridge full of beverages and a couch packed with friends ready to play a Swamp favorite: the debate drinking game.
When the Democratic contenders hit the New Hampshire stage at 9 p.m. tonight, break out your favorite malted barley or fermented-grape drink (for teetolers, the Swamp recommends whole milk; for vegan teetolers, spicy V-8 juice), and set up some simple rules for who drinks when.
You could drink every time, say, Barack Obama says “hope,” Hillary Clinton says “experience,” John Edwards says “worker” or Dennis Kucinich gets a chance to say anything. If you plan to drink once for every American soldier Bill Richardson accuses his rivals of wanting to leave in Iraq, we advise against driving home.
And if you’re a more conservatively minded imbiber, the Republican National Committee is stepping up to make sure you don’t feel left out. Just add your own drinking rules to the RNC’s online Democrat-mocking game “Show of Hands,” which it is advertising on New Hampshire web sites tonight.

The game, which you can play here, ridicules Democrats with questions including “Who has been rated as more liberal than Ted Kennedy?”, “Who believes higher taxes are patriotic?” and “Who passed only one bill in the U.S. Senate, which dealt with the Congo?” Players rack up scores with each question, which come in handy when you’re handing out V-8 shots every round.
Not surprisingly, the game comes complete with a button to click to donate to the national Republican Party. Presumably, they won’t take kegs instead of cash, but you never know.
