The folks at ABC have been asking Jane Seymour to be a part of “Dancing With the Stars” since the show premiered in 2005.

“I turned them down, resolutely, in every season,” the actress told us Friday. That’s because Seymour has spent the last five years recuperating from back surgery to repair herniated discs. But after consulting her doctor, Seymour got the OK to compete for the fifth season of “Dancing With the Stars,” which premieres Monday with 12 new contestants, including Mark Cuban, Wayne Newton and Marie Osmond.

“Doing this kind of dancing has supported my back,” the actress told Armour & Co. “Now I’ve gotten movement in muscles that didn’t move for the last five years. My doctor’s thrilled and I’m thrilled.”

So is Seymour’s mother, who is recuperating in England from a recent stroke. Seymour found out her mom is a big fan of the BBC’s “Strictly Come Dancing,” which in
