Getting offensive: The Huskies appear to have found a franchise back in Justin Anderson. The 212-pound sophomore from Steinmetz ran for 168 yards and a touchdown, and he caught six passes for 45 yards.

On the defense: NIU developed a deadly tendency to give up big plays, with passes of 39, 24 and 17 yards allowed on successive possessions.

The number: 6. Dan Nicholson’s interceptions in three games, including one Saturday.

They’re still talking about: The screen pass that ricocheted off an EMU defender, off a Huskies lineman, off the intended NIU target and back into guard Jason Onyebuagu’s hands for a completion on the final drive. After something like that, you’re supposed to win.

Sick bay: Defensive tackles Craig Rusch and Anthony Antonacci suffered knee injuries that might sideline both for the year.

Audible: Coach Joe Novak won’t use injuries as an excuse, but he has lost offensive and defensive foundation players in the last two weeks.

Looking ahead: The Huskies go on the road to face a good Idaho team that won’t be intimidated after opening the season at USC.
