Kimberly Huang of Chicago asks: “What triggered this journey and what do you hope to accomplish at the end of it?”
Evan: Living in China for the past two years, I’ve often wondered if I miss more interesting things by the side of the road than I find at my destination. In order to capture a vast and complicated country, we have to race past things everyday that, if we sat down and studied them, just might illuminate an overlooked element of what is happening here. We wondered what would happen if we slowed things down a bit and covered China at the pace of a person.
