You’d think guys wouldn’t play games with Rachel Bradshaw’s heart, especially on national TV.

Sure, her father, Terry, is a gregarious guy — but he’s also a former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback and an NFL legend, and if that’s not intimidating enough, he probably still has a few very big friends who could step in if any young man does his daughter wrong.

In “Nashville,” a new “docu-soap” beginning at 8 p.m. Friday on Fox, Clint Moseley — one of the few people on the series who isn’t an aspiring country singer — seems to be playing games with Rachel. He invites her to a party, then flirts with other women. Later, he tries to clear things up, but he’s still acting like the spoiled son of a wealthy jet-sales company owner.

Is Clint on the level with Rachel? Or is he a dog?

Soapy questions like that aren’t surprising when you discover that “Nashville” comes from the producers of the pretty-people reality series “Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County.” But “Nashville” is as much about making it in the music biz as it is about making out in the back yard, and it incorporates performance scenes as it follows the personal lives of its 10 or so cast members.

The other aspiring singers include Jeff Allen and Matt Jenkins, who crossed paths with Bradshaw well before the show began as veterans of Texas’ opry circuit.

“Nashville” presents Allen and Jenkins as struggling musicians in the shadow of their friend, up-and-comer Chuck Wicks. But Jenkins, who lost his record deal at Universal because of a regime change, has come close to the big time. He had one song, “Bad As I Want To,” get as high as No. 42 on the country charts.

“I think people have the perception that Nashville is a lot countrier than it is,” Jenkins told critics. “[But] Nashville is a really cool city, and it’s got a blend of … musicians and writers that are [also] from the pop and rock side that live in Nashville and create music. So it’s certainly not just a country city. It’s just kind of a mecca for great music of all genres.”
