ANAMOSA, Iowa — If anyone was confused over the last day on whether Sen. Barack Obama supports a requirement to tie future funding for the Iraq war to a hard deadline for withdrawal, he sought to make the point crystal clear this afternoon.
“I had some reporters who were maybe not entirely clear about this: I believe that Congress should and must not give George Bush a blank check,” he told an audience of several hundred here. “I believe that Congress should impose a timetable and constraints on George Bush and insist that we begin to bring our troops home. I cannot guarantee that we can get all the Republicans we need, but we have to try.”
