DAVENPORT, Iowa — There must be something about Iowa, trains and Sen. Barack Obama.
As the presidential candidate was starting to give a speech about Iraq at a pavilion on the banks of the Mississippi River here, a passing freight train started blasting its horn. It was similar to a speech-stopping incident that happened in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, over the 4th of July weekend.
“Is George Bush driving that train?” the Illinois Democrat asked the audience of several hundred. “Are they trying to keep me from telling the truth?”
After pausing for a couple minutes, the train finally passed and gave the crowd a fancy parting horn blast. “That was pretty good. I think he is voting for me,” Obama said.
