Cubs fans, Jeff Garlin feels your pain.

Garlin, as you probably know, is not one of those celebrity bandwagon jumpers. He has bled Cubbie blue for ages. He even scheduled an October appearance at the Music Box Theatre to promote his made-in-Chicago film, “I Want Someone to Eat Cheese With,” to coincide with playoff baseball at Wrigley Field.

Needless to say, the Cubs’ three-way National League Central Division race with the Milwaukee Brewers and St. Louis Cardinals is killing Garlin, who plays Larry David’s manager on “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” which returns Sunday to HBO.

“They should be slamming the door shut on the rest of the division already,” Garlin told Armour & Co. when we caught up with him in New York on Friday. “This is really frustrating. I’m not scared of the Brewers. It’s the Cardinals I’m worried about.”

The Cardinals, huh?

“Hey, Cubs fans hate the Cardinals, but we respect them,” Garlin told us. “It’s the same with Bears fans — they hate the Packers, but they respect them. Now Sox fans, they hate the Cubs and they don’t respect them. That has to be frustrating because Cubs fans just don’t care.”
