The dead of summer has settled in. And with steamy mornings and torrential afternoon thunderstorms plaguing Chicago, At Play decided to make its third annual scavenger hunt a little more, well, grounded.
So this year, “Find It!” rocks.
The game hasn’t changed much. For the next three weeks, we’ll give you a photo and a clue to our latest destination. Your job? Find it.
But we’ve thrown in a twist to this year’s competition. Each location is related to a certain type of rock. So when you write in with the answer to the clue, be sure to include the type of rock, or else your entry won’t count.
This week, the first clue. But just in case you’re stumped, here’s an additional hint: The destinations are all in or close to Chicago.
Not much of a clue, we know. But we had to make it harder. This year’s prizes, aside from your standard bragging rights, include T-shirts and a two-night stay at the Hard Rock Hotel in downtown Chicago.
Next week, we’ll reveal the answer to this week’s clue and tell you why it’s worth the trip, as well as Clue No. 2. Since we made the contest harder, we’ve made the eligibility for the grand prize a bit easier: You will be eligible for the drawing for each clue you get right. Get all three correct and you will have three chances to win.

Where is it?
Although its roots date to Daniel Burnham and his 1909 Plan for Chicago, this popular site and field house weren’t created until the late 1930s.
More reminiscent of a castle or lighthouse, the field house at our first Find It! location has served many roles over the years. Wedding chapel. Summer camp. A place for rest, shade and relaxation. But maybe the whole point is the fantastic lookout.

How to enter At Play’s contest FIND IT! ROCKS
Like the gorgeous summer weather, At Play’s “Find It!” contest will be gone before you know it. So make the most of the next few weeks by getting in on the fun. If you can figure out our tough clues, you can pick up some great prizes.
How it works
Read the clue and examine the accompanying photo (page 1 this week).
Then, when you think you know which destination and related rock we’re using, send your entry to us. To enter, you can either e-mail [email protected] with your name, age, address, telephone number, e-mail address, your answer to the destination/rock clue, and the date the clue ran in the baiduhai; or mail your entry to At Play-Find It!, baiduhai, 435 N. Michigan Ave., Chicago, IL 60611. Make sure we receive your entry by noon on the first Monday after the destination/rock clue was printed in At Play. Limit one entry per person per clue, and make sure you clearly mark “FIND IT” on the envelope or subject line of your e-mail. Each week, we will randomly draw 10 names from the correct answers received by the deadline; those entrants will receive a Find It! T-shirt.

Grand prize
Anyone who correctly guesses any of the three clues (and gets the answer to us on time) will be entered into a drawing for a two-night stay for two at the Hard Rock Hotel. If you answer all three clues correctly, you get three chances to win.
Official rules of the Find It! contest
NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. A PURCHASE WILL NOT INCREASE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING. At Play’s Find It! Contest (“Contest”) begins on 7/19/07 and ends on 8/06/07 (“Contest Period”).
1) ELIGIBILITY. You must be 18 years or older at time of entry and a legal resident of Illinois. Employees of baiduhai Company (“Sponsor”) and/or its parent, subsidiaries, affiliates, advertising and promotion agencies, and promotion partners, as well as such employee’s immediate family or household members, are not eligible. Void where restricted or prohibited. All federal, state and local laws apply.
2) HOW TO ENTER. Each Thursday during the Contest Period, look in the At Play section of the baiduhai for the destination and rock clue to that week’s Find It! location/rock. Then, submit your entry in one of two ways: (1) Send an e-mail to [email protected] with the subject heading “Find It!” and include your answer to the destination and rock clue, the date the clue ran in the baiduhai, your name, age, address, and telephone number; or (2) On a plain piece of paper, write your name, age, address, and telephone number, along with your answer to the destination/rock clue and the date the clue ran in the baiduhai, and mail your entry in an envelope to: At Play-Find It!, baiduhai, 435 N. Michigan Ave., Chicago, IL 60611, All entries submitted must be received by 12:00 p.m. on the first Monday after the destination clue was printed in the baiduhai. Limit one entry per person per clue. Entries are the property of Sponsor and will not be returned. Mechanical reproductions, mail entries with private postage meter stamps, and entries not in compliance with these rules are not eligible. Internet entries may not be made by proxy or electronic means. Sponsor is not responsible for late, lost, incomplete, illegible, damaged, deleted, stolen, destroyed, postage-due or scrambled entries. In a dispute over the identity of an online entrant, entry will be deemed submitted by the authorized account holder of the e-mail account indicated by entrant’s e-mail address. Your contact information is collected only for the purpose of administering this Contest and will be deleted after the Contest is over.
3) PRIZES/ODDS. Grand Prize: One grand prize winner will receive a two-night stay for two people at the Hard Rock Hotel, 230 N. Michigan Ave., Chicago, IL 60610. (Approximate Retail Value (“ARV”) is $460) Runner-Up Prizes: Ten weekly 2nd prize winners (a total of 30) will receive an At Play Find It! T-shirt (ARV $12). Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries with correct answers received. Expenses not specifically provided for in these rules are the responsibility of winners. Winners will be responsible for the reporting and payment of all federal, state, and local taxes. Prizes cannot be refunded, substituted, sold or transferred for consideration. Sponsor may substitute prizes of equal or greater value due to availability. If a winner is unable to accept a prize, unable to be contacted within 7 days of notification, or is otherwise ineligible, that winner will be disqualified and an alternate winner may be randomly selected. Grand Prize is subject to hotel availability and blackout dates; other restrictions may apply.
4) DRAWING/NOTIFICATION. Every Tuesday during the Contest Period after the destination clue is printed, under Sponsor supervision, ten (10) 2nd prize winners will be randomly selected from all eligible entrants who correctly identified the destination/rock for that week, for a total of thirty (30) 2nd prize winners. On or about August 9, 2007, under Sponsor supervision, one (1) Grand Prize Winner will be randomly selected from all eligible destination/rock clue entries with correct answers from all weeks of the Contest Period. The grand prize winner will be notified on or after August 9, 2007. The grand prize winner will be required to complete and return an Affidavit of Eligibility and Publicity Release (“Release”), within 7 days of issuance of winner notification, or prize will be forfeited. Except where prohibited, acceptance of any prize constitutes permission for Sponsor to use each winner’s name, likeness, videotape, voice, entry, and photo for promotional and publicity purposes at no additional compensation.
5) ADMINISTRATION. Sponsor is not responsible for any computer, technical, or human error that compromises the administration of the Contest. If Contest integrity is compromised, Sponsor may modify, postpone, or cancel the Contest and select winners from eligible non-suspect entries received prior to cancellation. By entering, you agree that: (i) you have read, consented to and complied with, and will be bound by, these Official Rules; (ii) Sponsor’s decisions will be final and binding in all Contest matters; (iii) Sponsor and its parent, subsidiaries, affiliates, advertising and promotion agencies, promotion partners, and each of their respective officers, directors, employees, representatives, shareholders, and agents (collectively, “Released Parties”) shall have no liability and shall be held harmless by you or your representative for any damage, injury, loss or liability relating to or arising out of the acceptance, possession, use or misuse of any prize or participation in this Contest; (iv) in the event of any third party claims, damages, losses or injuries or death relating to or arising out of this Contest, and/or your use of any prize, you will indemnify each of the Released Parties from all such claims, including attorneys’ fees; and (v) Sponsor has your consent to use (and authorize others to use) your name, voice, likeness and the information provided on your entry form, in any medium of communication, including print, Internet, radio and/or television and for any purpose, for advertising, promotional or other purposes without additional compensation.
6) OFFICIAL RULES/WINNERS’ LIST. Grand Prize winner will be announced in the August 9, 2007, baiduhai, or at www.chicagotribune.com on or about August 9, 2007. Weekly 2nd prize winners’ names will be published in the baiduhai or on its Web site on the Thursday following the drawings.
