The super-trendy miniskirt leads to a question: to cross or not to cross the legs?

Sitting properly in a miniskirt is a topic of some debate. Some say cross the legs; others, perhaps Queen Elizabeth, would paste knees together, shift them to one side and cross legs at the ankle.

Melissa Ryan, a trend correspondent for Macy’s, offers this blended philosophy:

“Yes, crossing your legs at the knee will cause your hemline to rise higher than if you just cross your legs at the ankle and angle your legs to the side. Plus, crossing your legs at the knee requires you to lift one leg above the other, which also leaves you open to unwanted exposure.

“If unsure, take a minute and practice in front of a mirror. That will allow you to see for yourself what others will be seeing of you.”
