A Westmont business owner was found slain early Thursday on his horse farm in unincorporated Peotone Township, police said.
Officers found the body of Joseph N. Salamie, 58, at the south end of his 10-acre farm on the 29700 block of South Harlem Avenue, said Pat Barry, spokesman for Will County Sheriff Paul Kaupas.
Salamie, who was listed in public records as the owner of a used CD and DVD store, died of several stab wounds, the Will County coroner’s office said.
After Salamie failed to show up at work Wednesday, his brother asked police to check on him, which they did shortly after 10 p.m., Barry said. Blood near a barn led them to believe there was a struggle. Salamie’s body was discovered less than 40 feet from Harlem after an extensive search, Barry said.
Sheriff’s investigators late Thursday were talking to family members to create a timeline of Salamie’s recent activities, Barry said. Family members were cooperating, he said.
Salamie, who lived on the horse farm, was the owner of Sight N’ Sound on Cass Avenue in Westmont. An Internet listing indicates the store, which has been open for 30 years, sells rock T-shirts, tobacco products, smoking accessories, incense, candles and jewelry, plus CDs and DVDs.

The listing identifies Kristine Salamie, 26, as the store’s director of operations. Filings in DuPage and Will Counties show that Joseph and Kristine Salamie were divorcing.
