During one long weekend in New York, seven art fairs and nearly 400 galleries were exhibiting, and Chicago’s art crowd was there in full force.
On just that Friday afternoon, the dizzying Armory show (not at the Armory), a.k.a. the mother of all art fairs, was so packed with collectors and visitors that it was difficult at times to see the work. Same story at The Art Show of the ADAA (at the Armory). And at every turn, a familiar Chicago face.
“I loved the Anish Kapoor red concave mirror at Barbara Gladstone,” says collector David Nelson, “but I guess that makes it all about me.”
Here’s what some other Chicagoans saw and, in some cases, brought home.
