The fundamentals of classic rock are alive and well and being put to very good use by a 22-year-old who plays all of his own instruments. David Vandervelde’s impressive debut clocks in at little more than 30 minutes, with only eight tracks total. It may be brief, but it’s impassioned, stirring and moving enough to have him being compared to ’70s-era David Bowie, Robert Plant, John Lennon and T. Rex. I’d say he’s off to a pretty good start.
