Citing serious health concerns and stress, Oak Park Village Trustee Martha Brock has announced she is stepping down from her position on the board after 21 months in office.

“While my heart remains committed to community-building work, issues related to my personal health dictate that I resign my position as village trustee, effective Wednesday, Jan. 31,” Broke wrote.

Brock, 48, who is moving from Oak Park to be closer to family, is the second trustee to resign from the board since November, when Geoff Baker resigned from his position citing the difficulties of balancing work and family with the time commitment required for Oak Park trustees.

Baker’s resignation came in time to put the remaining two years of his term up for election this spring. But it is too late to put Brock’s seat on the April ballot, so Village President David Pope will appoint someone to fill the remaining two years and three months of her term with the board’s approval.
