The Village Board instead of a review committee will have final authority to accept plans for commercial and business development, it was decided this week.
Village Administrator John Downs said the new ordinance reflects trustees’ desire for decision-making power in the development process without losing the help of volunteers who serve on the town’s committee. Site Plan and Architectural Review Committee
The committee, Downs said, would “stay intact” and have the power to guide developers to plans that would be recommended to the Village Board.
The committee would still have the power to grant final approval on minor matters, he said, but elected officials would make major decisions.
Trustee Laura Rusiniak pushed for the move. “The residents elect us to make decisions,” Rusiniak said.

“It enhances the process without adding an extra step,” said Trustee George Metanias.
The new ordinance includes an appeal process, Downs said.
