There may well be a new burst of confidence among single women dealing with dating disasters. No need to put up with a guy who can’t commit, wasting their precious time.

And who is leading the charge? Men like Matt Titus.

It started with book authors and talk-show hosts breaking the news that “he’s just not that into you.”

Now men such as Titus are giving free dating advice to women. Titus, a professional matchmaker, began MyTextInTheCity.com in late 2006 to offer daily tips to women.

“I’m explaining the secrets of the boys club. How men think, what they want,” Titus said.

Consider the cover blown. In the “He Kisses and Tells” section, Titus decodes common guy talk. For example, when a man says he meant to call over the weekend but lost track of time, he really means: “I didn’t lose track of time, I just didn’t feel like it.”

And when a guy tells a woman he just met to give him a call, Titus says, it’s because he’s not interested enough to chase her.

Bad dates with Mr. Wrong are posted by users in the “Dating Diary” section.

One woman wrote how her dinner date showed up two hours late and insisted they skip dinner and just split a slice of cheesecake. Then he suggested they split the bill. Easy, big-spender.

The Web site also offers daily e-mail advice, such as how to stop a clingy boyfriend from turning into a “gal pal.” The site is free, so guys also can sign up if they’d like to see which secrets Titus is revealing.

Fair warning: Titus advised one reader to give her Saturday night date until the following Thursday to contact her for a second date.

“If you don’t hear from him before noon Thursday,” he said, “make other plans.”
