Young–Harper finished with 14 points while Smart had 16 points, 9 assists. “I look for assists first and then points will come,” said Young’s Tailor Jones, who scored 11.

Shelly Charvat hit 2 free throws with 12.9 seconds left, giving Rock Island (22-4) its only lead after tying it with 13-0 run.

Rock Island–Charvat had 10 points. Montini–Michala Johnson had 19 points, 7 rebounds.

“I haven’t been a really good free-throw shooter,” Charvat said. “I was trying to stay positive.”
