Warhammer: Mark Of Chaos
PC
From: Namco Bandai
Price: $49.99
Like its futuristic cousin, Warhammer 40,000, the popular tabletop strategy game gets a digital version in Mark of Chaos. But unlike the Dawn of War games that so effectively use the 40K setting, Chaos falls short. Two separate campaigns feature a variety of characters and missions. Players move an army along a path from battle to battle, stopping now and again at towns to replenish troops and buy armor, weapons and items. Gamers can build and customize a fighting force to take online. There’s no base-building–soldiers are mustered before the battle, and must be carefully conserved during combat. The battles are all about tactics and getting the most out of a limited force–no easy task, as each battleground is well-stocked with foes. Once on the field, battles seem a bit slow and lack aural impact. With no big-picture mode or base-building, the battles are all a gamer has to work with.
