The Promenade, a retail shopping center opening in April that sprawls across both sides of Boughton Road, received Village Board approval this week for an expansion project.

The developer, Forest City Bolingbrook LLC, added 119 acres on the southwest corner of Janes Avenue and Falconridge Way and the east side of Janes, north and south of Falconridge Way, and subdivided them into six lots on Tuesday.

One space would house an L.A. Fitness center and the rest are not yet filled, said Mayor Roger Claar, but it’s “possible there could be a couple of hotels and restaurants that haven’t been identified yet,” Claar said.

The shopping center, with 60 acres on the north side of Boughton and 240 to the south, is anchored by Macy’s, Bass Pro Shops and IKEA and has more than 1 million square feet of retail space, Claar said.

Also this week, trustees extended the hours of bar operations to two restaurants in the center beyond the town’s midnight closing time. Bar Louie can remain open until 1 a.m. on Sundays through Thursdays and until 2 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. Gordon Biersch can remain open until 11 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and until 2 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.
