The village put a stop order on three developments last week after staff discovered that the developer built buildings with final designs that were not approved by the Village Board.
The stop order was placed on 23836 W. 135th St. in the Menards shopping development and on 16106 and 16108 S. Illinois Highway 59. The original designs for the commercial developments were approved by the Plan Commission and the Village Board in 2006 and 2004, respectively.

A third, the residential Riverpoint subdivision, has several issues not resolved.
Developer Michael Guinta told trustees this week he was unaware that he had to appear before the village if he wanted to change designs once they had been approved.
The differences in the currently constructed buildings and the original designs include roof height, depth of the building, different colors and building materials, window placement and the elimination of walls and parapets.
The altered designs were discovered when a new tenant came to the village for a sign permit and staffers saw pictures that didn’t match the designs.
“I am totally disgusted by the whole situation,” Trustee Michael Collins said.
The builder was told that he must resolve the issues to the village’s satisfaction.
