Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates highlighted the “connected experiences” features of the Windows Vista operating software and showcased a new product for the home that holds “terabytes” of storage in a speech Sunday night to open the 2007 International Consumer Electronics Show.
Key features of Vista include the ability to search for text or media files across all computers in a home. The demo also had a “Sports Lounge” with live high-definition feeds of a sporting event complete with up-to-the minute stats from other live games.
Gates also described Windows Home Server, software that searches across an entire home network to back up files. The first device will be available in the second half of the year.
