Former Bears offensive coordinator John Shoop is on owner Al Davis’ short list to replace Art Shell, who was fired last week as Raiders coach after a 2-14 season. Davis thinks highly of Shoop, who succeeded Gary Crowton with the Bears and was a part of the 13-3 team in 2001. Shoop was a finalist for the job in February before Shell was brought in. Shoop began the year as tight ends coach but was promoted to offensive coordinator with five games left when coordinator Tom Walsh was demoted. The futility continued under Shoop, the Raiders scoring just 36 points over the last five games. Also in the running for the job is defensive coordinator Rob Ryan, son of former Bears defensive coordinator Buddy Ryan.
