“DREAMGIRLS–DELUXE EDITION”

RATING: 3 SOUND LEVELS

The soundtrack to the musical-turned-movie “Dreamgirls”–opt for the two-CD “Deluxe” edition to get some dance mixes and more movie music–stars Beyonce Knowles and Jamie Foxx, who are a disappointment. But newcomer Jennifer Hudson is a dynamo on a star-making turn on the show’s signature tune, “And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going.” Eddie Murphy is the other standout, proving he’s a much better singer than you remember (“Party All the Time,” anyone?). Overall, “Dreamgirls” on CD proves a rousing good time.
