For years, Nella Piccolin attended Will County Board meetings as an observer for the League of Women Voters. Now Piccolin, 57, is expected to return, this time as a member of the board.
County Board members are expected Thursday to ratify Piccolin’s appointment to serve the remaining two years of a four-year term representing District 1, the board’s easternmost district. The ratification makes her the third Frankfort resident to serve on the board along with Jim Moustis and Cory Singer.
Piccolin, a 25-year county resident, is no stranger to Will County politics. She is a Frankfort Township board member, a Republican committee member and vice chairman of the Frankfort Township Republican Organization. She previously served as president of the Frankfort Park District and of the PTA.
Piccolin, a data processor with Kensington Research, succeeds Mary Ann Gearhart Deutsche (R-Steger), 55, who resigned in August. Originally appointed to fill a vacancy, Deutsche went on to serve 21 years.
Representing District 1 with Piccolin are Singer and Monee resident John Anderson.
