Men, Love & Sex
The Complete User’s Guide for Women
By David Zinczenko with Ted Spiker (Rodale, $22.95)
The subhead of this title, penned by the editor-in-chief of Men’s Health magazine, is boastful and–perhaps–sexist. But we can excuse that offense considering that this book is less a statement of the authors’ beliefs than it is a survey of more than 5,000 men and women on their thoughts on the male mind. Relationship experts need not fear any competition, but within these breezy pages there are a few nuggets that gals (and guys) can mine.
1. Although men wish their women would rank an 8 on a sexual-aggressiveness scale of 1 to 10, most admit that their woman ranks a 5.
2. “Feelings” is the male F-word. Women should “bleep it out of your conversational repertoire.”
3. Women should pine not for chatty men, but for those whose actions show they care.
4. When a guy visually undresses another woman, it does not detract from his feelings for his lover. “There’s enough drool to go around.”
5. Men–especially when it comes to weddings–want to make as few decisions as possible. Women should accept that and plan accordingly.
