Nearly 100 volunteers had a hammer–and saw–in building frames for three houses at IBM Plaza in Chicago.

The frames, each to be used for a 1,200-square-foot three-bedroom home, were built as part of Habitat for Humanity’s hurricane recovery program. After construction on a recent Saturday, the frames were packed and trucked to Lake Charles, La., where volunteers will erect them and complete the homes.

The Mortgage Bankers Association, Freddie Mac and Women’s Mortgage Industry Network and First American Bank contributed $225,000 for the homes and provided the volunteers for the one-day event. Representatives of the organizations were among the participants in Chicago last week for the MBA’s 93rd convention at the Hyatt Regency Hotel. It ended Wednesday.
