Northwestern coach Pat Fitzgerald is looking for the rest of the offense to play better as Andrew Brewer settles in as the starting quarterback, including the offensive line. “It always starts up front, we’ve been inconsistent up there,” Fitzgerald said. Two starters who missed last week’s loss to Purdue–tackle Dylan Thiry (sternum) and guard Joel Belding (father’s death)–are expected back in the lineup, though backup Austin Matthews may be out with a hip that has been sore since off-season surgery. “It’s playing as one heartbeat up front,” Fitzgerald said. “Work together and good things happen.” . . . In their three Big Ten games, the Wildcats have scored only 26 points, none in the second half. They have yielded 105 in those three games. . . . The Oct. 28 game at Michigan will kick off at 11 a.m. on ESPN.
