Before it played Oregon last week, UCLA’s run defense had been allowing only 50 yards per game. The Ducks, however, rolled up 256 rushing yards against the Bruins. What can Notre Dame learn from Oregon’s success? “Oregon’s a special team. They have an option, they have that running quarterback,” Irish offensive lineman Ryan Harris said of Ducks quarterback Dennis Dixon. Notre Dame’s Brady Quinn is hardly an option threat, but “they did show us some things,” Harris said. . . . Harris did not spend any down time during the off week reading coach Charlie Weis’ new book. “We have enough material on him that we could write our own book,” he said.
