Talking publicly for the first time about the departure of junior defensive end Ronald Talley, Notre Dame coach Charlie Weis stressed Talley had not been dismissed from the team.

“We’re leaving amicably with him going,” Weis said. “He just doesn’t want to be part of this team anymore. We had talked about three times during the year. He really felt that it would be in his best interest if he left the team at this time.”

Fifth-year senior Chris Frome, who has started two games this season at right defensive end, against Purdue and Michigan State, will move into the starting spot. Junior Justin Brown and freshman John Ryan will back up Frome and left defensive end Victor Abiamiri.
