Two men will be in court next month facing charges of impersonating a peace officer and criminal trespass to property after they were accused of claiming to be off-duty police officers as they removed items from a Frankfort garage.

Joseph V. Churak, 31, of the 10100 block of S. Homan Avenue in Evergreen Park, and Joshua M. Popper, 26, of the 18500 block of Wolf Road in Mokena, were arrested last month after they entered a garage in the 1000 block of Center Road and were confronted by the residence’s owner, police said.

The men are accused of telling the woman they were off-duty cops. The woman became suspicious and called the police, who arrested them.

Both men face charges of ordinance violations and are scheduled to appear in court Nov. 11.
