The Village Board filled a vacancy this week with the appointment of Georgia O’Neill, president of the Madison Area Chamber of Commerce. She replaces longtime Trustee Harold Brown, who resigned.

O’Neill has served the village as an appointee to various commissions and committees during her 40 years as a resident. She also has been executive director of the Park Forest Chamber of Commerce.

She said she is eager to offer her experience as a leader in the business community to her new role in public office.

Brown, 80, said he is leaving to move closer to out-of-state relatives. In addition to his tenure as a trustee, Brown also has served on two area school boards.

O’Neill’s term expires in April.
