Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Running back James Aldridge made his season debut against Stanford on Saturday, and coach Charlie Weis had said there was no question the freshman would get on the field at some point. With the season at the halfway point, will Weis consider holding out freshmen who haven’t seen game action yet to preserve a year of eligibility? In a word, yes. “I’ve talked to several of the players already. . . . I don’t want to use them just in mop-up time if it’s going to burn a year [of eligibility],” Weis said. “We don’t talk about redshirts here, but there is a fifth-year possibility. I think we’re down to 10 people, 10 of the 28 [freshmen] who haven’t been in a game yet.”
