The annual McCord Gallery & Cultural Center’s gala Saturday will raise funds for the center and a south suburban shelter for abused women and children.

The event kicks off at 6 p.m. on the grounds of the gallery at 9602 W. Creek Rd. in Palos Park.

Chairs painted by local artists and displayed throughout the area will be auctioned off at the event, which also will feature a pig roast, live Cajun music, folk dancing and a silent auction.

The McCord Chair-ity will aid the Crisis Center for South Suburbia.

The gallery will be open, so guests may tour the current exhibit, “Folk Art: Art & Soul,” featuring works gathered from the Appalachians, the bayous of Louisiana and the Midwestern plains.

Tickets are $75 and may be purchased by calling 708-671-0648 or at the door on the night of the event. Bids on the chairs will be accepted by phone for those not attending the gala.
