Stanford defense to give Irish a different look

Defensively, Stanford will pose a challenge for the Irish because it uses a 3-4 front. So what is the biggest difference a quarterback has to be aware of when preparing for a 3-4 compared with the more common 4-3? “I think identification of the linebacker for us because it sets up the protection for our running scheme,” quarterback Brady Quinn said. “Recognizing who that particular player is on a given play is the most important thing, for us at least. And it’s something that can be somewhat confusing.”
