It’s not even Halloween, and believe it or not, we’re already thinking about Thanksgiving. Yes, some restaurants already have sent their Turkey Day menus to us, and we couldn’t be more excited. We’re not even talking about those big, fancy spots, where last-minute reservations are harder to come by than a seat on the Red Line during rush hour. Take, for instance, little Horizon Cafe (3805 N. Broadway. 773-883-1565). This plucky, pay-at-the-counter Lakeview diner is planning a $14.95 dinner that includes turkey breast, stuffing, gravy, pumpkin soup, cranberry sauce and your choice of apple or pumpkin pie. Owner Nick Cocalis, along with his chef-partner dad, John, has reason to be thankful this year. Six-and-a half months after opening, a March 2005 fire shut Horizon Cafe down for 15 months. But the restaurant’s been repaired and updated, and now it’s ready for you and your holiday crew. If you’d rather eat at home, Horizon’s planning turkey dinner delivery and takeout–no reservations necessary.
