Northwestern coach Pat Fitzgerald said he won’t know who he will start at quarterback this week until at least Wednesday, but the offensive linemen know they have to improve. “We’re not there yet, but we are getting better,” guard Ryan Keenan said. “We showed it against Nevada, we sidestepped vs. Penn Sate. We know we can play better. Now it’s time to carry it over.” . . . Senior safety Bryan Heinz, who hasn’t played this year because of an ankle injury, is back at practice. “He’s a good strong safety,” Fitzgerald said. “To get him back is important.”
