With the season opener Thursday in Nashville, the Blackhawks trimmed their roster to the 22 they’ll open the campaign with.
They sent defenseman Dustin Byfuglien to Norfolk and will carry no extra defensemen at the start of the year. The Hawks will go with Adrian Aucoin, Jassen Cullimore, Brent Seabrook, Duncan Keith, Jim Vandermeer and Lasse Kukkoken on defense. The Hawks will carry 14 forwards, with tough guy Reed Low, Matt Keith and Adam Burish among the final survivors. One will be sent to Norfolk when Tuomo Ruutu comes off injured reserve. Defenseman Cam Barker and goaltender Patrick Lalime also start the season on injured reserve.
