New Italian-style pizzerias with those showy wood-burning ovens seem to be appearing more frequently on the North Side than Cub home runs. (OK, we admit, it’s a rather low benchmark.) First at bat was Spacca Napoli (1769 W. Sunnyside Ave., 773-878-2420), which hit Ravenswood preseason with a roster of Neapolitan pies, including the white with mozzarella di bufala, basil and olive oil ($13.25). Frasca Pizzeria and Wine Bar (3358 N. Paulina St., 773-248-5222) landed in Roscoe Village in May, and fans have been buzzing ever since about its version of Neapolitan pizzas, like the Capone with tomato sauce, roasted onions, fennel sausage and fresh mozzarella ($12). Rogers Park rookie Gruppo di Amici (1508 W. Jarvis St., 773-508-5565), made its debut sans pizza (the oven needed additional curing time); owners launched the Roman-inspired lineup recently. Try the bianci with fresh mozzarella and rosemary ($12.50). Let the pizza games begin.
